19th ranked Barton Soccer wins 3-1 knocking off 3rd ranked Cowley College to end regular season; host home playoff game Wednesday.
The 19th ranked Barton Community College men's soccer team put together one of their more dominating and complete efforts on Saturday at Cougar Field, scoring three unanswered to knock off 3rd ranked Cowley College 3-1 to conclude the regular season.
The Cougars finished second in the final KJCCC West standings at 7-2-1 and improve to 9-2-1 on the season with first place Cowley taking their lone conference loss dropping to 9-1 and 9-2 overall.
Next up is the Region VI playoffs with the now 17th ranked Cougars moving up the national poll will host Kansas City Kansas Community College on Wednesday in an approximate 2:00 p.m. kick-off or 30 minutes following the conclusion of the women's team hosting Johnson County Community College's 12:00 p.m. start. The victors of Wednesday's men's game advance to Saturday's 6:00 p.m. semifinals held at Wichita's Stryker Sports Complex.

Barton outshot the Tigers 6-2 in the first forty-five minutes with neither team able to convert on their three combined shots on frame.
A Barton penalty inside the box just 5:12 into second half action helped provide Cowley's lone goal as Alvaro Gabancho found the net on the ensuing penalty kick.
Three minutes later the Tigers were whistled for a hand ball in the box but Gabrielle Privitera's penalty kick was rejected by Cowley net keeper Shuma Kawabe.
Barton went back to work in outshooting the Tigers 12-5 in second half play, with Privitera coming through with the equalizer with 15:41 remaining on a backside laser to near post putting away Pedro Maximiano's cross.
Five minutes later Privitera helped provide the game winner, sending a forward ball finding Felipe D'Agostini in outracing the defense before sending in his team leading 10th goal of the year.
Vladyslav Peretyatko put the icing on the victory with 1:53 remaining chasing down Manaka Sato's forward ball to strike near post for his third net rattler of the year.
Yuki Nishigaki remained unbeaten on the year in goal at 5-0-1 in surrendering just the penalty kick goal while saving another Tiger attempt.
