Defense and missed opportunities controlled play for 110 minutes Thursday at the Cougar Soccer Complex, as the 17th ranked Barton Community College men's soccer team and Dodge City community College battled to a scoreless draw.
The sixth clean sheet of the season moves Barton's record to 5-2-1 in conference and 7-2-1 overall while Dodge City's league and season mark goes to 1-5-2 in league.
The Cougars have two remaining regular season games, both on the home turf next week beginning with Garden City on Wednesday and 3rd ranked Cowley College on Saturday. Kick-off times for both contests slated for 4:00 p.m.
Having a twelve day layoff from its last competition, the Cougars struggled to find the offensive tempo while the defense played solid enough to earn the draw.
The Conquistadors outshot Barton in the contest 12-9 but put five more shots on frame as Cougar net protector Yuki Nishigaki coming up with seven saves with the defensive line contributing to another.
Barton was only able to put three on frame, the Conquistador defense blocking one while Marco Gallardini was solid on two saves.
