The 15th ranked Barton Community College men's soccer posted their fifth clean sheet of the season with a 3-0 victory over Kansas City Kansas Community College Saturday afternoon at the Cougar Soccer Complex.
The victory improves the Cougars to 5-2 in conference play and 7-2 overall while KCK slips to 3-4 in both league and on the season.
Barton currently has a hole in its schedule originally scheduled for May 1st so will now have a rest time before getting back on the pitch Thursday, May 6, in hosting Dodge City Community College in a 4:00 p.m. kick.
The Cougars put a solo net shaker on the board in the first half before putting two more on the board in a three minute span of the second frame.
Felipe D'Agostini, the reigning conference and national player of the week, netted the first of his two goal afternoon 31:02 into the contest by settling a rebounded shot before sending a laser near post.
A KCK turnover deep in the defensive end set up Barton's next goal as Cedric Morales stole the pass sending a short ball to Elijah Williams for a near post strike with 19:37 left.
Three minutes later, Pasquale Degaetano flipped a pass through the defense setting up D'Agostini in left side of the six before sending a rocket from the tight angle caroming off a KCK defenseman rattling the nets for his 9th time of the season.
Barton outshot KCK 18-8 with a 6-3 advantage going on frame. Yuki Nishigaki earned the victory in goal turning back two shots with defenseman Pedro Maximiano helping to keep the sheet clean with a block in front of frame on a Blue Devil first half scoring attempt.
