The Barton Community College men's soccer team began its' 2021 campaign with a 4-2 road win over Coffeyville Community College Friday evening at Veterans memorial Stadium.
Securing its' sixth straight season opening victory, the 20th ranked Cougars will look to make it two straight in Monday's home opener against York College with first kick slated for 2:00 p.m. from the Cougar Soccer Complex.
Falling into a 1-0 hole six minutes in, Elijah Williams delivered the equalizer 13-minutes later from 30-yards out rebounding his own flip throw inbounds beating the keeper top shelf.
Scoreless over the first 18-minutes of the second half, a Hesron Barry missile bumped Barton in front 2-1 pasting the keeper far post from 20-yards assisted on a Cedric Morales pass
Riding momentum the Cougars struck back with an insurance goal just 2:17 later as Gabrielle Privitera's pass setup Felipe D'Agostini's top shelf chip shot from 21-yards out stretching the lead to 3-1.
The Red Ravens provided one last push with 15:59 to play clawing to within one with a far post header on a free kick cross from 41-yards out.
Reigning Jayhawk West Defensive Player of the Year Ricardo Sepulveda put the final claw in the Red Ravens with 2:18 to play striking a rocket just under the cross bar off D'Agostini's corner cross.
