Five players rattle nets as explosive Cougars score four unanswered in 5-1 win at Garden City #GoBarton

Striking from a variety of attacks by five players in the lineup, the No. 14 ranked Barton Community College men's soccer team scored four unanswered second half goals Wednesday evening to run away with a 5-1 victory at Garden City Community College. The victory improves Barton to 6-1 on the season while sending the Broncbusters to consecutive losses to begin the conference season and 2-5 on the year. Next up for Barton will be a Saturday trip to Concordia in a battle of 2-0 conference and nationally ranked teams as the Cougars take on Jayhawk favorite and 4-1 Cloud County Community College in a 4:00 p.m. kick-off.

Barton got on the board via the penalty kick as Filippo Reggio was tripped up in the box setting up Colin Roemer's ninth goal of the year blasting past the Garden City keeper for an early lead.

Coincidentally enough, a defensive miscue would cost the Cougars a shutout giving Garden City their only goal as Barton got sloppy on a loose ball with the Broncbusters capitalizing sending a one-touch missile to the top near post tying it up with twenty-seven minutes left in the half.

It only took Barton less than a minute into the second frame to get the game winner as Hiroo Kimura registered his first collegiate goal with a backside header off of Roemer's corner kick.
Another beautifully executed play grew the lead to two seven minutes later as Toranosuke Abe sent a long pass to Roemer whose one-touch cross to Sora Wakabayashi found the net for the second time of the year.

Eight minutes later the lead widened on another executed corner kick as Chris Camilli scored his second of the season with a pinpoint mid-net header to give Benjamin Zamora his third season assist.

A middle of the half water break did little to slow down the attacking Cougars as Barton continued its assault and possessions in wearing down the Broncbusters with Ezra Armstrong taking full advantage giving Barton the four goal margin with ten minutes to play. Taking a pass deep in Cougar territory, Armstrong weaved his way up field in a near coast-to-coast effort before working a two-man game with Jose Escobedo to strike near post for his third of the season and Escobedo's fourth assist of the sophomore's season.
