Cougars knock off No. 18 Laramie County in Barton Classic opener
The Barton Community College men’s soccer team scored three unanswered goals Friday morning to knock off No. 18 ranked Laramie County Community College 3-1 in the opening game of the Barton Classic. In game two of the Classic, former Barton head coach Oliver Twelvetrees’ No. 11 ranked Eastern Florida State College also pulled a national ranking upset by putting in a late insurance goal in holding off No. 6 Trinidad State Junior College 4-2.

In Saturday's action, Barton will take on Trinidad State in the 10:00 a.m. game with Eastern Florida and Laramie County wrapping up the Classic at noon. Admission is free to fans with live streaming and online statistics found at www.BartonSports.com.
Enter the Barton record books in his Cougar debut, Colin Roemer added two more goals to his season total while also adding his second assist of the year leading to the game winner.
Laramie County took the initial lead 17:42 into the contest as Quinn Hunt's long free kick was inadvertently headed into the Barton goal by a Cougar defender.
Barton picked up the equalizer four minutes later on a handball violation off a corner kick in the box, setting up Roemer for the penalty kick tying the game.
The Cougars showed up crisp passing for much of the first half including a perfectly executed play proving to be the game winner with just over seventeen minutes left in the half. Roemer sent a cross into the box where sophomore Alexander Kay skillfully one-touched over to Carlos Castrejon as the Georgia freshman sent a rocket back across the box finding the far post for his first collegiate goal.
Barton again strung together great team work on the final goal of the game as Hiroo Kimura's through ball and Sora Wakabayashi's one-touch across the box found the foot of Roemer to rattle the net with 5:14 left before half.
