Team effort leads another strong second half, Barton Soccer advances in hosting second round playoff action

It's becoming a theme for the Barton Community College men's soccer team of playing its best soccer in the final forty-five minutes as was the case Thursday afternoon at the Cougar Soccer Complex in a 5-2 win over Kansas City Kansas Community College in first round play of the Region VI playoffs.  Another theme becoming more prevalent are the Cougars are dangerous throughout the lineup as five different players scored in the contest as Barton broke a one goal halftime tie with four in the final frame to run its home unbeaten streak to the Blue Devils to 7-0-1.   Ending KCK's season at 10-4, Barton improves to 13-2 and advances to the second round of the playoffs for the thirteenth time in the program's fifteen years of eligibility.  Next up for the Cougars is its third matchup of the season against Garden City Community College in a 2:00 p.m. kick on the home turf.  The 12-9 Broncbusters, the West's No. 4 seed, gave the Cougars the home field second round, having knocked off the East's top seeded Johnson County Community College 1-0 earlier in the day in Overland Park, Kansas.
