Cougars explode for six second half goals for 7-0 victory at Hesston College

Following three consecutive tough Jayhawk Conference games, the Barton Community College men's soccer team avoided a letdown Friday in Hesston with a 7-0 victory in non-conference action over Hesston College.  The Cougars shrugged off a slow start getting a first half closing moments' goal to carry momentum to the second frame tacking on six more for the runaway victory.  The victory improves Barton to 5-1 on the season while dropping Hesston 1-6-1 on the year.   Next up for the Cougars' is a Jayhawk showdown rematch as the No. 19 T-birds of Cloud County Community College come to Cougar Field for a 4:00 p.m. kick-off. 

It took the Cougars forty minutes to rattle the net as Jose Escobedo would boot his second collegiate goal finishing off an executed play from Angel Lopez and Luca Perez giving Barton the goal edge into the halftime break.

Barton would score a trio of goals in a matter of approximately ten minutes beginning nine minutes into second half play on Alexander Kay's first collegiate goal finishing off Lucas Alves' cross from Lopez.  

Four minutes later Sergio Ribeiro had a foot leading to the next two goals setting up Alves' pass to team captain Vinicius Monteiro who netted his first of the year.  Six minutes later Ribeiro dished to Escobedo playing a cross as Kay finished off his second goal of the game.

Reigning KJCCC Player of the Week Mario Ramirez doubled up his freshman scoring output netting the next two goals, the first coming on Ribeiro's third assist of the game from Monteiro.  Three minutes later Kay found Benjamin Zamora who then sent a cross to Ramirez ballooning the lead out to six with five minutes to play.

Luiz Pereira put the cap on the scoring outburst in the final moment of the contest taking Zamora's second collegiate assist and blasting near post from well outside the eighteen for the sophomore's third career goal.
