Cougars hold on for 1-0 road win, Vargas records fourteenth career shutout
The Barton Community College men’s soccer team protected a first half goal to hold on to a 1-0 victory over Kansas City Kansas Community College on Sunday in Kansas City. The Cougars improve to 3-1 in conference play and 4-1-1 overall while KCK drops to 2-2-0 in conference and 3-2-0 overall. Barton will next play at Dodge City Community College on Wednesday then return home to the Cougar Soccer Complex for a 4:00 p.m. Saturday contest against Allen County Community College.

The Cougars got the game winner 19:50 before halftime courtesy of Mariano Gelso's assist to Ebu Camara. Goalkeeper Mauricio Vargas and the young Cougar defense helped protect the slim lead as Vargas posted his fourth shutout of the season and fourteenth in his career, just one away from third place on the Barton all-time list.
