Titus leads Cougar golf to Blue Devil Invite runner-up #GoBarton
Kelby Titus of the Barton Community College men's golf team helped lead the Cougars to a runner-up finish Tuesday at the Blue Devil Fall Invitational held at Dub's Dread Golf Course in Kansas City, Kansas.
The Cougars trailed after Monday's opening round by seven strokes, shooting a 33-over 321. Barton was unable to close the gap on Tuesday despite a two stroke improvement as North Central Missouri College and the Cougars each carded a 31-over 319 to finish with a thirty-six total of 640.
Titus made a move from the third spot following an opening 6-over 78 as the Great Bend native carded a tournament's second best round of 2-over in jumping into a share of the Invite title in the thirty-five man field. Kansas City Kansas Community College's Zach Miller fired the best round of even par 72 on Tuesday for an eight stroke improvement to share the title.
Barton had two other Cougars in the top ten with Ryotaro Tsuji staying steady in the 5th spot with a pair of 7-over 79 rounds while Takerngsak Chuaychoo vaulted up the leaderboard from 21st with an 85 to fire a 4-over 76 to place 9th at 161.
Adam Price also made a climb up the chart from an 18th place 84, carding a final round 7-over 79 to finish 9th at 161.
Unfortunately going the other way on the leaderboard, Panupong Chuaychoo began Tuesday's round in 9th after posting a 9-over 81 but closed with an 87 to finish tied for 20th at 168.
