Barton men's golf captures home meet to conclude fall season

The No. 15 ranked Barton Community College men's golf team broke away from a first round deadlock to win its own tournament Monday at StoneRidge Golf Course pulling out a six stroke victory in the Barton Invitational.  Shooting consecutive team 295 score rounds in the 36-hole event, the Cougars out dueled Dodge City Community College in the second eighteen holes finishing at 590 to the Conqs' 596.   The result concluded Barton's fall season the same as it began, with a victory, as the Cougars won two of their five events while finishing runner-up in one to go along with two third place finishes.

Individually, Dodge City's Nick Kagy took the title carding a 2-under 140 and four strokes ahead of the Cougars' Seokhun Kang 2-over 144.  Tied after the first round as each fired a 3-under 68, Kagy broke away for the title carding a 1-over 72 while Kang slipped with a 5-over 76.   B. Treadway of Independence Community College was one stroke behind in third place carding consistent rounds of 72 and 73 to finish at 145.

In addition to Kang's runner-up finish, Barton had two others crack the top ten of the forty-man event.  Jakkapat Horsangchai tied three others for the fourth spot with rounds of 75 and 72 to finish with a 147 while Thitipong Homruen made a run up the leaderboard bouncing back from a 78 opening round with a 1-over 72 to finish in eighth place at 150.  

Flip-flopping rounds, Riley Kane opened with a solid 3-over 74 before sliding with an 81 round to finish at 155 while teammate Jaron Kellerman sliced nine strokes off his opening round 84 with a 75 second round accumulating a 159.

Christian VanNover led the second team of Barton entries with rounds of 81 and 76 for a 157 while Dakota Soukup was one-stroke ahead a three-man log jam with a 161 leading off with a 78 before holding together a tough middle round stretch carding an 83.  Calin Meyer and Jacob Uhrmacher finished one stroke behind at 162 with Meyer making the largest move of the day for Barton following an 87 with a twelve stroke improvement of 75 while Uhrmacher had consistent 82 and 80 rounds.  Tristan Titus also had consistent rounds to complete the second team of Cougars carding an 85 and 86 finishing at 171.

Koy Holden led two individual entries with a 168 with 85 and 83 rounds while Connor Ewing finished at 184 with 90 and 94 rounds.
