Barton golf finishes runner-up at KCK Invite

One week after pulling off a comeback season opening victory, the Barton Community College men's golf team's bid for two straight came up short Monday finishing runner-up at the KCK Invitational.  The Cougars trailed Kansas City Kansas Community College by ten strokes after the morning eighteen holes at Junction City's Rolling Meadows Golf Course but the deficit grew by five additional strokes from the afternoon's round completing the one-day thirty-six hole tournament at 610 to KCK's winning 595 score. 

After finishing second to teammate Thitipong Homruen in the season opener, Jakkapat Horsangchai rallied for his first victory of his sophomore season following an opening 74 with a 71 to tie KCK's Micah Morris for tournament champion honors.   Homruen also carded a 74 in the morning round coming up two shots shy of the victors with a 73 and a third place 147 score.

Seokhun Kang pulled through for his second consecutive Top-10 finish bouncing back from an opening 81 to fire a 73 in tying two others at 154.   

Rounding out the first of two Barton teams entered in the tournament, Riley Kane shot consistent 82 and 83 scores carding a 165 while Christian Van Nover shot 81 and 85 to finish at 166.

Jaron Kellerman led the second team of the Cougars' 661 score with a Barton overall fourth best total of 162 with rounds of 80 and 82.  Koy Holden was second on the "B" team with 81 and 83 rounds for a 164 while Calin Meyer was a stroke behind roaring back from an 86 in the morning with a 79 in the final eighteen.

Also having much improved afternoon rounds, Dakota Soukup followed an 88 with 82 to finish at 170 while Jacob Uhrmacher fired an 84 to follow an opening 90 to finish at 174.   

Barton will be back on the links next Monday as the Cougars travel to McPherson, Kansas, for the two-day Central Kansas Invitational held at Turkey Creek Golf Course.
