The Barton Community College men's golf team improved each round of the KJCCC Championship finishing fifth concluding the two-day thirty-six hole meet at Newton’s Sand Creek Station Golf Course. Barton opened play Monday with a 308 followed by a 302 afternoon round to end the first day just seven strokes out of first place but fifth in the tight knit standings. The Cougars started slow in the Tuesday’s final round but heated up to post the day’s third best round in firing a 298 for the first sub-300 in recent Cougar golf history. Shooting a three round total of 908, Barton finished 44-over for the tournament as nine strokes separated the top five teams. The Cougars will next compete in the Region VI and District III Championships April 26-28 at Lawrence’s Alvamar Golf Course.
