Barton Men's Bowling concludes season at the ITC Sectionals #GoBarton

The Barton Community College men's bowling program closed out the 2023 season this past weekend with a 19th place showing at the Intercollegiate Team Championship Sectional Qualifier held at USA Bowl in Dallas, TX.

The Cougars, who made the program's first ever appearance was one of two NJCAA programs that competed in the 20-team field featuring the top NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NAIA programs.

Entering the final day in 20th, Barton made a final push moving up a spot, out tossing Arizona State University by 188 pins in the final two blocks of 32 baker games concluding with a two-day total of 11,528 over 64 bakers. Claiming the team honors in the field of 20 was Lindenwood University with a total count of 13,730 edging runner-up Wichita State University's 13,725. Joining the pair in advancing to the ITC Championships held April 19th-23rd in Las Vegas was Midland University with 12,991 pins and Ottawa University clinching the final spot with a grand total of 12,839.

Individually the Cougars were led by V-Thoon Thanasouk's 21st place finish in the field of 177 participants scoring a six-game total of 1,217. The freshman recorded the team's highest individual game of 244 in the second game while finishing over the 200-mark in four of his six games.

Griffin Peterson and Bryce Moore concluded their Barton careers landing inside the top-100 with a 77th and 99th finish respectfully. Peterson who claimed All-America honors a week ago at the NJCAA Championships accumulated a six game 1,088 while Moore fell 29 pins back with 1,059.

Concluding the individual finishes for the Cougars was Braden Boswell in 136th and Cale McConnell in 170th.
