Barton Men's Bowling third place finish at SWIBC Championships

The Barton Community College men's bowling team produced one of its' best finishes of campaign this weekend in the regular season finale at the SWIBC Championships returning home with a third-place finish.

Battling the field of 11 teams competing over Saturday's six individual games the Cougars entered Sunday's final three individual games with the third best score. Posting the second best individual score in Sunday morning's action, Barton entered the baker best of five match play as the second seed accumulating a weekend total of 9,137 pints before bowing out in the fifth and decisive game to third seed Kansas Wesleyan University. Claiming the weekend team result and bracket play title was Oklahoma Christian University accumulating a nine individual team best mark of 9,759.

Concluding the SWIBC schedule, sophomore Bryce Moore claimed All-SWIBC honors meeting the minimum 26 games rolled throughout the eight competed SWIBC sanctioning events throughout the regular season.

Moore paced the Barton squad on the weekend landing on the All-Tournament team securing a third place finish in the field of 76. The Great Bend native led the eight pack of Cougars carding 2,053 pins, eclipsing the 200-mark in eight of his nine games with the highest game rolled 278 coming in the opener and averaging a 228.1 per game.

Griffin Peterson highlighted the best individual game score with a 299 falling one pin shy of the programs first ever perfect game score of 300. Peterson concluded the weekend with a sixth place finish and 1,987 pin destruction averaging 220.8 per contest rolled.

V-Thoon Thanasouk sustained his first-year success turning in a top-20 performance knocking down the 12th most pins concluding with a score of 1,888.

Rounding out the lineup for the Cougars was Cale McConnell's 42nd place 1,361, Aidan VanMetre 59th 686, Braden Boswell 62nd 502, Conner Eastman 68th 344, and Caleb Carr's 72nd 316.

Barton will begin their month long of preparation for the 2023 NJCAA Bowling Championships held March 2-4 at the Airport Lanes in Cheektowaga, New York.
