Newell and Nisly pace Barton Bowling at Bronco Open and Bronco Bash
The Barton Community College men's and women's bowling teams had a good learning experience this past week competing in the Bronco Open and Bronco Bash held at the Pastime Lanes in Hastings, Nebraska.
In Saturday's Bronco Open consisting of four individual rounds and sixteen baker games, the Cougar men managed a tenth place showing tallying 6467 pins while the Lady Cougars fell a spot back of their counterparts posting an 11th place finish knocking over 5964 pins.
During Sunday's same tournament format in the Bronco Bash the Barton, men leaped four spots tipping 6462 pins falling a spot outside the top-5. Meanwhile the Lady Cougars faltered two spots back scoring 5683 pins for a 13th place showing.
Barton's next action will be close to home as the Cougars head to Wichita this weekend for the Mid-States Championships held Saturday and Sunday. Action is expected to start Saturday at 8:00 a.m. with the Lady Cougars rolling the sphere first at North Rock Lanes with the Barton men following at approximately 3:00 p.m.
Saturday's Recap
Sophomore Creyton Nisly led the charge individually for the Cougar men finishing in the 31st spot of the 81-man field with Tracey Hill a couple spots back in the 33rd position.
On the women's side Alexandria Newell scored her second top-10 performance on the season leading the Lady Cougars with a seventh, place finish blasting over 759 pins for a four game average score of 189.
Sunday's Recap
In Sunday's men's action Nisly paved the way for the Barton men for a second consecutive day rolling to a third place outing earning All-Tournament team honors. Nisly compiled 785 pins while riding a tournament game high score of 248 for an average score of 207 per ten frames.
Falling eleven pins shy of an All-Tournament team showing, Hill concluded his weekend totaling 804 pins for a sixth best mark-averaging 804 per contest. Great Bend, KS native Jacob Holden slipped one spot shy of a top-20 performance tossing a 742 tally.
For the second consecutive day, Newell paced the Barton women to a 38th overall finish knocking over 645 pins while freshman Angelina Leeper bettered her previous days' performance finishing two spots higher scoring a 39th best score of 636 pins.
