15th ranked Cougars red-hot out of the gates on season high long distance shooting night.
Draining their first seven shots including six beyond the arc, the 15th ranked Barton Community College men's basketball team rolled to an 84-68 victory hosting Seward County Community College.
The hot long-distance shooting led to a fifteen-point gap midway through the opening stanza but the lead was cut in half in the ensuing five minutes as Barton would eventually go to the halftime break up eleven.
A 7-0 start out of the locker room solidified a double-digit advantage through the final frame, most of the starters exiting for the last thirteen minutes as the lead increased out to twenty-six at the 9:00 mark cruising to the fifth straight win of the series.
Eight Cougars contributed to the squad's season high 14 made three-pointers on a second best 56% accuracy.
The third straight victory keeps Barton alone in third place of the Jayhawk standings at 14-5 improving to 20-5 overall marking the 36th time in program history earning twenty or more wins in a season. Seward County falls to 2-16 in league and 3-20 overall.
Next up is the two-game homestand finale coming on Hall of Fame Saturday welcoming in a dangerous Dodge City Community College squad (7-11, 10-14) owning a pair of blowout victories over top half conference teams including a blasting over 8th ranked Cowley.
The festivities begin with a 2:00 p.m. Induction Ceremony of the 2025 Hall of Fame class in the Kirkman Center followed by the women's 5:30 p.m. tip-off. The inductees will again be recognized in between the women's and men's contests with the Cougar men and Conquistadors estimated at a 7:40 p.m. tip-off time.
All eleven suited players contributed at least three points for a balanced box score of output with just two reaching double-figures.
Coming off the bench Fontaine Williams led with 16 points, draining 4-of-6 long range shots including one within a personal 5-0 run giving Barton its largest first half lead.
Following Keandre Kindell's deep splash to open the evening's scoring, Aris Rodriguez took over dialing deep three times in the next five minutes finishing 4-of-5 beyond the arc for 14 points.
Kindell finished with 7 points and distributed a game high tying 6 assists.
Brent Moss added 9 points and 3 rebounds with Eltramon Smith, Jr. contributing 8 points and 6 rebounds.
Kiku Parker's 18 points and 6 assists led the shorthanded Saints on the night, being joined by the 12 points each from Carson Bennett, Muhammed Jobe, and Nfaba Mane.
