2nd ranked Barton men come out firing cruising to century mark season opener.
Draining its first two shots from three-point land and scoring on its initial three possessions of the 2024 season, the 2nd ranked Barton Community College men's basketball team were off and rolling Saturday chalking up a 100-45 victory over Labette Community College in day one of the BSN Sports Tipoff Classic.
Winning its seventh consecutive game at the Hutchinson Sports Arena, Barton returns to the familiar court on Saturday for a 3:00 p.m. tip against Southwestern Christian College. Live stream audio and video coverage links can be found at www.BartonSports.com.
Scoring 52 first half points for a twenty-five point advantage, Barton shot 61.8% in the opening twenty minutes and 50% in the final twenty for an overall 55.4% from the floor including 8-of-21 from long range.
Keandre Kindell drained Barton's second triple to begin the afternoon, finishing 2-of-4 from deep in leading all thirteen Cougars in action with 18 points. Aris Rodriguez canned Barton's first triple just twelve seconds after tip-off to go on to score 8 total in his collegiate debut.
Returning to the court from a two-year absence, Modibo Sanogo was a perfect 6-of-6 from the field for 13 points and 7 rebounds as Sebastian Muchitsch's debut produced a near double-double 10 points and 9 rebounds. Brent Moss led with four assists while adding 6 points, 7 rebounds, and two steals.
Thirteen Cougars played atleast six or mor minutes, twelve reaching the scoring column as Lucas N'Gombo's 7 rebounds and 9 points led the bench's 45 point production. Lyna Brooks, Jr. led all players with 3 steals in just eight minutes of time off the bench.
Brando Moya-Almonte led the Cardinals with 9 points and 10 rebounds.
