For the second consecutive week Lajae Jones of the 8th ranked Barton Community College men's basketball team has been named the KJCCC's Division I Basketball Player of the Week.

Jones earned the week five honor in averaging 16 points on 8-of-17 shooting and 8 rebounds per contest helping the Cougars split a pair of games during the week.

Last Wednesday Jones led Barton with 18 points in part to a near perfect 11-of-12 from the free throw line, while adding 6 rebounds, three blocks, and creating two steals despite the Cougars dropping their first contest of the season.

Needing a team bounce-back effort this past Saturday at No. 9 Butler, Jones again led the squad by reaching double figures for the fifth straight game in scoring 14 points and secured his third double-double of the season by hauling down 10 rebounds as Barton picked up the big road victory.

Jones had won the previous week four distinction in averaging a double-double 22 points and 11.5 rebounds with 69% shooting in the pair of Barton wins.

The honor also chalks up the third for the Cougars this season, Jones' pair being joined by Myles Thompson's week two distinction in averaging a double-double in Barton's trio of victories.

Now 4-1 in league play and 10-1 overall, Barton plays host tonight 7:30 p.m. versus Northwest Kansas Technical College before traveling to Liberal on Saturday for a 4:00 p.m. contest at Seward County Community College to conclude the pre-holiday break slate.
