The Barton Community College men's basketball team opened up the season Wednesday night at the Barton Gym with a resounding 102-57 victory over the junior varsity squad from McPherson College. For those who attended the women's contest prior to the men's game, one witnessed a near identical performance by the Cougar men as Barton led by twelve at halftime but exploded out of the locker room with a 12-0 run enroute to a thirty-three point second half edge in cruising to the victory. Barton will next begin preparation for this weekend's Best Western Cougar Booster Club Classic at the Barton Gym taking on Region VI member Highland Community College on Friday before closing out the Classic on Saturday against Redlands Community College. Tip-off set for 7:30 p.m. for both contests.

Six Cougars reached double-digits for a Cougars squad with just two returners as all but one of the twelve suited up reached the scoring column. Tyrell Andrews led all scorers on the night with seventeen points coming off the bench with Keshon Montague right behind with sixteen points while distributing a team high four assists. Knocking down three of his four three-pointers in first half action, Sam Lorenzen dropped fifteen as did Kian Dalyrimple in joining Akeem White's even points coming off the bench. Scoring ten points, Marvin Cannon also joined Elijah Ford with eight rebounds each to lead a twenty-five Cougar rebound advantage over the Bulldogs. Fort also added nine in the scoring column while also chalking up a team high four steals.

Jace Shepard 4-of-7 from behind the arc and fourteen points led three Bulldogs in double-digit scoring with bench mate Justin Wiltfong knocking down 3-of-6 long distance shots in adding eleven and Kellen Watkins contributing ten.
