Getting off to a slow start a week ago in Iowa against the same opponent, history would not repeat itself seven days later as the Barton Community College men's basketball team led basically from start to finish winning 70-54 Saturday over Western Iowa Tech Community College in the Brown Mackie Classic held in Salina.  The Cougars maintained a lead throughout the first half for a five point intermission edge before breaking it open early in second half play and keeping the Comets from drawing any closer than nine points going on for the sixteen point win.  The fourth straight victory improves Barton to 5-2 on the season with their next action coming Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. hosting the junior varsity squad from McPherson College kicking off a four-game non-conference home stand before turning attention to conference play beginning December 2nd on the road at Pratt Community College.  

Keith Mack came off the bench to lead the Cougars connecting on 8-of-10 from the field for a career high eighteen points while Tyrone Acuff added ten points.  Dequandre Dentmond grabbed a career high ten rebounds to lead the five rebound edge for the Cougars while Derek Dorn dished out four of Barton's seventeen assists and Jordan Windholz recorded a team high five steals.

Western Iowa Tech's Stafan Bradley led all players with seventeen points on 6-of-16 from the field including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc.  Andre Walker was the only other Comet to reach double figures with fifteen.  Bradley and Phomwanala Danladi each grabbed six rebounds with Walker taking the team dish award with four.

The Cougar defense limited its second straight opponent to under 30% from the field as Western Iowa Tech finished at 28.8% while the Cougars shot a season high 48.2% despite not knocking down a trey for the first time in the season going 0-for-7 beyond the arc.
