Unselfish Cougars reach the century mark in 112-71 win
The Barton Community College men’s basketball team played its most complete game of the early season getting contributions from all ten players in a dominant 112-71 win over the junior varsity squad from Sterling College Wednesday night at the Barton Gym. With the starting five getting Barton out to fourteen point lead in the first five minutes, the second wave of Cougars were just as effective leading to a twenty-point halftime edge growing to as much as forty-six late in the second half. The win improves Barton to 3-2 on the season as the Cougars hit the road for a second consecutive weekend classic playing Friday and Saturday in the Brown Mackie College Classic in Salina. Barton will play Planet Athlete at 5:00 p.m. on Friday followed by a 1:00 p.m. rematch contest against Western Iowa Tech Community College, the same Comet team the Cougars defeated 83-65 last Saturday in Iowa.

Tyrone Acuff reached double-figures for the third time this season leading six Cougars in double-figures scoring nineteen points. Three freshmen Cougars scored career highs led by Ezekiel Charles' seventeen with Anthony Smith and Mangisto Deng coming off the bench for fifteen and fourteen respectively. Missing the season's first two games with an injury, Jordan Windholz connected on 4-of-5 from beyond the arc for twelve points while Dequandre Dentmond matched his season high for the second straight game with eleven points. Acuff and Charles led the rebounding with five each while Eddie Hunt distributed a career high six assists with Windholz recording a career high five steals.
Distributing a season high twenty-seven assists on forty-one field goals, the Cougars were also sharp from the field shooting a season best 61% from the field including knocking down nearly 44% from beyond the arc.
The Warriors were led in scoring by two players coming off the bench as Zach McGuire scored a game high twenty-four with four assists while Irving Bannister dropped in seventeen leading the team with four rebounds.
