High scoring Cougars bury conference top ranked defense 97-73
In a matchup of two polar opposite teams, the Region VI’s top scoring Barton Community College men’s basketball team buried the top rated defense team Seward County Community College 97-73 Monday evening at the Barton Gym. The Cougars erased an early 3-0 deficit to build a nine-point intermission lead then erupted for fifty-four second half points. Barton improves to 3-1 in conference and 15-3 overall while the defending Jayhawk West champions drops to 2-2 and 9-8 overall. Barton wraps up its five game ten day stretch on Wednesday as No. 6 ranked Hutchinson Community College comes to the Barton Gym for a pivotal 7:30 p.m. conference game.

Jalin Barnes' twenty-five points led Barton in scoring for the second straight game as four Cougars reached double-digits. Ahmad Walker had another all-around game just missing a triple-double as the sophomore transfer recorded his second straight double-double scoring twenty-two points with a team high ten rebounds to go along with nine assists and two steals. Sharp shooting Kenny Enoch scored thirteen while Christian Smith's 4-of-4 from behind the arc added thirteen points off the bench.
The Saints had three players reach the double digit scoring column. Jamal Poplar, who also grabbed a team high six rebounds, led the Saints with seventeen with Secean Johnson and Kevin Sims added fourteen and eleven points respectively.
In conjunction with Wednesday's game, the Cougars will dedicate the night to "White Out" in support of local cancer support organizations. Offering support and increasing awareness, the Barton Athletic Office encourages fans to wear white as a show of support or purchase "White Out" themed t-shirts. Proceeds from all t-shirt sales will be donated to the Barton Relay for Life team and Camp Hope.
