Cougars take care of Central 86-66 in Brown Mackie Classic
The Barton Community College men's basketball team pulled away Friday for an 86-66 victory over Central Community College-Columbus in the first of two games at the Brown Mackie Classic in Salina. Leading by six at halftime, the Cougars increased the lead to double-digits early in the second half then tacked on some late buckets for the eventual twenty point margin. Barton improves to 4-1 on the season while Central drops to 1-5. The Cougars will next play at 1:00 p.m. Saturday against Region VI foe Northwest Kansas Technical College JV.

Following a sixteen point performance last Saturday, Jalin Barnes led three Cougars in double-digit scoring with season best numbers of eighteen points, six assists, and six steals to go along with five rebounds. Kenny Enoch's perfect 6-of-6 from the charity stripe and five steals led to his fifteen point effort while Khalil Gracey sunk 7-of-11 free throws to reach double-figures for the fourth straight game in matching Enoch with fifteen points. Eddie Hunt also put up career numbers with seven points and eight rebounds leading the Cougars' 34-24 advantage on the glass.
Knocking down 7-of-10 from behind the arc, Thomas Johnson's twenty-five point performance led two Central players in double-digit scoring. Tyrone Clayton added ten while Bryant Kelly led the Raiders in rebounds with nine and assists with four.
