Typical of the Barton Community College men's basketball team this season, the Cougars jumped out to a big first half lead only to find the second half to be a dogfight.  Wednesday night at the United Wireless Arena in Dodge City was no exception as Barton led by nineteen then held on for the 76-67 win over Dodge City Community College.  Shooting 43% behind the arc in the first half of play, the Cougars fought off Dodge City's 42% performance in the second half by converting 19-of-24 free throws in securing the win.  Barton improves to 5-3 in conference play and 17-7 overall while dropping Dodge City to 2-6 in conference and 13-11 overall.  Playing the last two games on the road, Barton returns to the Barton Gym on Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. contest against Cloud County Community College.

Isaac Williams scored thirteen of his eighteen points in the first half to lead four Cougars in double figures.  Williams knocked down three treys in the first half finishing 4-of-7 from behind the arc.  Darius Gibson scored seventeen and grabbed seven rebounds while fellow guard Tyler Corley scored eleven and dished out a team high five assists.  Playing a limited twenty-four minutes of action, Raheem Johnson scored ten points and hauled down six rebounds while connecting on a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe.

Ameer Jackson had a breakout game for the Conquistadors, doubling his scoring average to score twenty-four points while tying Larry Beckett for team honor with seven rebounds and dishing out a team high four assists.  George Brock and Cornell Duley came off the bench to score thirteen and twelve respectively while Brett O'Neil added ten.
