Cougars steam roll Pratt to close out regular season home schedule
Opening the second half on a 24-2 run, the Barton Community College men’s basketball team cruised to a 78-56 victory over Pratt Community College Saturday at the Barton Gym. Leading by fourteen at half, Barton built their lead to thirty-seven points in the first eight minutes of the second half to send the sophomore members of the team to victory in their last regular home game. With the win Barton remains in the driver’s seat for the third seed in the Region VI Tournament by improving to 10-4 in conference and 23-5 overall. Pratt drops to 4-10 in conference and 14-14 overall while seeing their hopes of a sixth seed dwindling. The Cougars have a short turnaround as they head to Colby Community College on Sunday to play a rescheduled game from last Wednesday’s weather postponed game. Game time for Sunday’s contest is 5:00pm at the Colby Community Building.
Freshman Raheem Johnson's career high twenty-two points led three Cougars in double-digits as all but one of the eleven players scored. Sophomore Andell Cumberbatch recorded his ninth double-double of the season scoring fifteen points and grabbing twelve rebounds. Sophomore Algie Key added thirteen points and just missed his sixth double-double of the season scoring thirteen points and dishing out nine assists. Sophomore Turon Parker scored eight points, dished out four assists, and tied Johnson for team honors with three blocks.
Aaron Abram and Kazmere Boyd came off the Pratt bench to lead the Beavers with sixteen and twelve points respectively.
