Key named Jayhawk Conference men’s basketball player of the week

Barton Community College men’s basketball player Algie Key has been named the KJCCC Verizon Wireless Player of the Week. The sophomore from Decatur, Georgia, put together three solid games for No. 9 ranked Barton Community College averaging nineteen points and over eight rebounds. Included in his week’s performance was helping to lead the Cougars to a conference opening 79-66 win at pre-season conference favorite Seward County and snapping a six-game losing streak to the Saints. Despite the Cougars falling from the unbeaten in their overtime loss to Paris Junior College earlier in the week, Key was able to record his third double-double of the season and tenth of his career having just missed another double-double the previous night. Additionally for the week, Key averaged over three-and-a-half assists and two steals per game.
