Defensive effort propels big second half as Cougars blow out Ottawa JV

Unable to shake the Ottawa University Junior Varsity squad in the first half, the Barton Community College men’s basketball team outscored the Braves by forty-two points to cruise to the 106-57 victory Thursday night in Ottawa, Kansas. Leading 41-34 at halftime, the Cougars went on a 33-5 run to start the second half in outscoring the Braves 65-23 to earn their fourth victory of the season. Kevin Kuteyi, making his season debut for Barton, led six Cougars in double-figure scoring with sixteen points while Andell Cumberbatch and Turon Parker were close behind with fifteen points each. Raheem Johnson and Algie Key each scored twelve, followed by Trey Unrau’s ten points to round out the Cougar scoring leaders. Barton will take a break from competition until next Tuesday when they travel to Kansas City to take on Kansas City Kansas Community College in a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
