Cougars knock off No. 5 ranked Coffeyville to advance to Region VI semifinal

Storming back after an early ten point deficit, the Barton Community College men’s basketball team led by three at halftime then held on for a 68-64 victory over the No. 5 Freshman Algie Key splits the Coffeyville defenders in first half action against Coffeyville Community College on March 11, 2012 at Hartman Arena in Park City, KS. ranked Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens Sunday in the Region VI Quarterfinals. Behind a combined twenty-eight point first half scoring by Turon Parker and Dwayne Brunson and sixteen second half points by Algie Key, the Cougars led the entire last thirty moments of the ball game to earn the semifinal berth. With the win Barton improves to 26-6 and advances to Monday’s semifinal while Coffeyville’s season comes to an end at 28-4. The Cougars will play Cowley College, who improved to 23-9 with their quarterfinal 61-52 victory over No. 20 Hutchinson, at 5:00 p.m. at Hartman Arena in Park City.
