Key grabs top freshman honor with Brunson getting second team conference award
Algie Key highlights two Barton Community College men’s basketball players to earn conference awards recently announced by the KJCCC. Key, who was voted the freshman of the year by conference coaches, is joined on the All-Jayhawk West team by sophomore Dwayne Brunson, who garnered secondDwayne Brunson team honors. Key, the week fourteen NJCAA and KJCCC player of the week, averaged 18.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.9 steals per game and recorded six double-doubles on the season. Brunson, an honorable mention selection his freshman year, recorded fourteen double-doubles on the season and averaged 17.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, 1.2 steals, and 2.8 blocks per game. The duo has helped lead the Cougars to a 25-6 season a quarterfinal berth in the Region VI playoffs.
