Cougars start season off right with beating of Central Christian
The Barton County Community College men’s basketball team got off to just the start they wanted to the brand new season, with a sound thumping of the Central Christian College squad. The final score of 139-67 brought many things to boast about. The Cougars finished just 5 points off the school record of 144 points in a game. All but one Cougar that played scored, and the team set the school record for three pointers made in a game with 20, besting the previous record by 2.

Highlights
The Cougars earned their early lead by hitting the offensive glass and heating up from behind the arc. Thiago Cordeiro scored the first three buckets for Barton off of offensive put-backs. The Cougars would extend their lead with some impressive long range shooting by Jason and Scott Schneider, brothers from Great Bend. The fast break broke the Central Christian defense and offered up some highlight real dunks from Ivan Evans. A non-stop attack from Barton led to a 68-39 halftime lead.
The Cougars stayed consistent, pouring in 71 second half points and holding their opponents to just 28. The highlight of the second half was three point shooting for Barton. The Cougars would hit 11 shots from distance in the half, to give them a school record of 20 for the contest. The old record of 18 was eclipsed at the 2 minute mark by Scott Schneider who would hit 2 long range buckets in a row to total up 20. Schneider would finish with 7 three point field goals and 21 points. The Cougars were led in scoring by another sharpshooter, Chris Jackson, who added 4 threes of his own. They were followed by Ivan Evans with 19 and Jason Schneider with 17. Omar Johnson also scored 17 and led Barton with 7 assists. Thiago Cordeiro pulled down 7 rebounds to lead the Cougars.
