Cougars look to New York, Texas for out-of-state class
The Barton County Community College men’s basketball has released its list of out-of-state singing as the Cougars come off a season which saw them come within one game of the NJCAA National Tournament. With the help of that finish, Barton has inked 5 out-of-state signings – with a very New York flavor and a bit of Texas. Four of the 5 signing come from New York with the 5th from Texas. One of the New York players attended school in Dallas as well.

Lindsay Robinson, a 6-9, 220-pound forward from Brooklyn, was a highly recruited player at God's Academy in Dallas in 2006, where he averaged 19 points a contest. Nykia Williams has been with the team this past semester when he began attending classes at Barton. Williams is a 6-8 forward from Flushing, NY, graduating from Monsignor McClancy Memorial High School in 2006. Williams averaged 15 points per game at Monsignor McClancy.
Javon Parris will be a sophomore next season for the season. The 6-2 combo guard from Brooklyn played last season for the College of Charleston (SC), an NCAA Division I team in the Southern Conference. Parris played in 22 games last season at Charleston after red-shirting for a season with the team. As a senior at Our Savior New American High School in 2005, Parris scored 14.5 points a contest to go along with 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Scout.com listed him as a pesky defender with good quickness and some bounce coming out of high school.
A player that will already be familiar with the Barton Gym next season will be Kelvin Mitchell. Mitchell played against Barton this past season as a member of the Air Force Prep Academy. Mitchell scored 11 points in 18 minutes against the Cougars during the opening classic of the year, hitting 3 3-pointers as Barton rolled to a 106-83 win. Mitchell is a 6'4 combo guard originally from Spring, Texas. He averaged 14 points a game his senior season at Spring High School in 2006. Since he played at a Prep School last season, Mitchell will be a freshman next season at Barton.
Isaiah Boyd comes to Barton from Brooklyn, where he will graduate from Canarsie High School. Boyd, a 6-5 wing averaged 14 points a contest his junior season at Susan B McKinney High School. He helped his team to the gold medal of the Empire State games last summer, scoring 21 points in the contest that put his New York City team into the finals.
