Cougars back on winning track with thumping of Sterling JV
The Barton County Community College men's basketball team put itself back on the winning track Wednesday night with a sound 82-56 victory over the Sterling College junior varsity at the Barton County Gym. The contest was the 1st outing for Barton since the Cougars lost their 1st game of the year this past weekend. Barton is now 6-1 on the season with 2 more home games this weekend at the Pepsi Classic. Barton will play the Bacone (Okla) JV Friday then take on No. 5 Coffeyville Saturday. Both games are at 7 pm.



Highlights
The Cougars got off to a rocky start, falling behind the Warriors early in the contest. Barton trailed by as many as 7 points in the opening half as the Sterling JV built a 17-10 and kept that margin at 22-15 with 8:21 to play in the half. Barton still trailed 28-23 late in the half when the Cougars finally found their game. Barton went on an 11-0 run capped by a Reggie Love 3-pointer in transition for a 34-28 lead. The Cougars took a 36-31 lead to halftime.

Barton came out in the 2nd half and established a double-digit lead they would not relinquish. The Cougars built that lead to as many as 26 with 5:54 to play and held on for that same 26-point win. Barton was led by Chris Berry once again as the sophomore poured in 25 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Berry is averaging 24 points a game this year and grabs 9 boards on average. He was joined in double figures by Brennan Bechard – who scored a career-high 13 – and Dominique White with 13. Also in double figures for Barton was Reggie Love and Shaun James with 10 each.
