Highlights
Barton shot out of the gates to a 5-0 and other than a 12-all tie, led the entire way. A Thiago Cordeiro layup and a Reggie Love 3-pointer in the 1st minute gave Barton that quick lead. The Cougars pushed the lead to double digits by the midway point of the opening half on an Ivan Evans bucket. It grew even larger – reaching 15 by halftime when Evans knocked down a 3-pointer just before the buzzer, giving Barton a 47-32 lead at intermission.
Barton maintained that double digit lead throughout the 2nd half with the closest Colby threat coming being 12 points early in the half. The lead reached as high as 21 points midway through the half. Barton shot just less than 50 percent for the game, hitting 29-of-59 shots from the field.
Evans scored a career-high 28 points in the win, converting on 4-of-6 3-pointers. Evans has now made 15-of-31 treys for 48 percent this season. Cordeiro also collected a career-high 19 points during the game, capping that off with an alley-oop dunk off the backboard from Shaun James. James added 11 points and a career-high 16 rebounds to lead Barton. Also earning career-highs on the night was Joel Stuckey who scored a new high 12 points and dished out a new high 8 assists in the absence of starting point guard Dominique White, who was back home for family reasons. Love ended the game with 11 points as well.
Barton will look to make it back-to-back wins for the 1st time since early January when the Cougars travel to the Sports Arena Saturday.
