Highlights
Barton and West Plains hooked up in a seesaw battle Thursday in a game that saw West Plains make the plays down the stretch. Barton led by as many as 11 points during the contest but could not come up with the win on the opponent's home floor. The Cougars led by 4 at the half but several 2nd half turnovers and offensive rebounds by the Grizzlies down the stretch proved to be the difference in the loss. JP Batista and Rone Smith each scored 13 points to lead the Cougars. Justin Rose added 10.
Friday the Cougars traveled to the St. Louis area to take on Mineral Area and found the going somewhat easier. Barton exploded to a huge halftime lead, taking a 48-26 lead into the locker room. That margin grew to 26 in the 2nd half before Mineral Area began to rally. Mineral Area cut the margin to 2 points late in the contest before the Cougars pulled away for the 10-point win. Tyler Luke had a monster game for the Cougars, scoring 25 points and grabbing 17 rebounds. It was the 1st double-double for the redshirt sophomore from Wichita.
JP Batista also recorded his 1st double-double as a member for the Cougars, netting 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Justin Rose scored 15 points for the Cougars.
