Barton rolls to win over Trojans
The Barton County Community College men's basketball team played its best basketball since returning from the Holiday Break, rolling by Colby, 79-63 at the Barton County Gym Monday night in Jayhawk West action.

The win moves the 9th ranked Cougars to 16-2 overall this season and 3-1 in the Jayhawk West. Colby falls to 13-5 overall and 1-3 in the West.

Highlights
Barton jumped out to an early lead and led the entire basketball game in front of 1673 fans the Barton County Gym. Colby rallied several times in the first half, but the Cougars took a 36-23 lead to halftime as Colby turned the ball over 13 times in the opening half and hit just 36 percent of its shots.

In the second half, Barton pushed the lead to close to 20 points on a few occasions, but Colby was able to cut the lead to 6 late in the contest before the Cougars pulled away for the win. It was the 3rd straight win for Barton since opening Jayhawk West play with a loss at Seward County.

Barton put four guys in double figures, paced by point guard Randy Pulley with 19 points. Pulley hit 6-of-11 shots for the floor and 7-of-8 from the charity stripe in the win. Robert Whaley added 15 points and 8 rebounds while Stan King and Nouha Diakite each tossed in 10. Diakite recorded a double-double with 10 boards as well.

Colby was led by EJ Drayton with 19 and Justin Williams with 10.

The Cougars will be on the road Saturday to take on Butler County in El Dorado. Tip will be at 8 p.m. for the West contest.
