Cougars run mark to 11-0 with wins at Shoot-Out
The No. 3 ranked Barton County Community College men's basketball team ran it's mark to 11-0 a pair of easy wins at the Jayhawk Conference Shoot-Out in Coffeyville over the weekend. Barton defeated Fort Scott, 92-64, Friday night then added a 95-59 win over Kansas City Kansas Sunday afternoon.

Highlights
The Cougars got a career-high 28 points from sophomore Jason Carter Friday night on their way to the 92-64 win over Fort Scott. Carter hit 10-of-14 shots from the field and added five assists. Carter was joined in double figures by Robert Whaley with 17 and Aaron Patterson with 15. Patterson led the Cougars with 10 rebounds and Whaley blocked five shots. Barton County led 52-30 at halftime and was never challenged in the contest.

Carter again led the way against KCK Sunday with 27 points, keyed by a 5-of-7 effort from behind the 3-point arc. Whaley had a big game as the 6-10 freshman tossed in 14 points and blocked a career-high eight shots during the game. The eight blocks gave him 13 in the two games at the Shoot-Out and 46 for the season. Patterson added 13 points and sophomore Omari Westley had nine points, 10 rebounds and four assists. The Cougars had another big first half, jumping to a 48-24 lead by intermission.

Next Up
Barton County is off until its travels to St. George, Utah for the Dixie State College tournament from Dec. 27-29. The Cougars will play Chipola, Fla. in the opening round of the tournament.
