Posey to play for Louisiana Monroe
After two solid years at Barton County Community College, Rapheal Posey will be continuing his basketball career at the University of Louisiana Monroe. Posey signed a national letter-of-intent recently to play for the Division I school which is a member of the Southland Conference.

Posey started the final 11 games of the season for the Cougars this past season, scoring a career-high 27 against Cloud County. For the season, Posey averaged 10.8 points per game. That increased to 11.3 during the conference season.

The shooting guard from Topeka also hit 38 percent of his 3-pointers during the season, connecting on 49-of-129 attempts. Posey led team in free throw percentage as well, knocking down 81 percent of his charity tosses.

The 6-2 Highland Park High School graduate also averaged four rebounds and three assists for the Cougars. He collected a high of 11 rebounds against Colby his sophomore season.

During Posey's freshman season he played a key role down in post season action as Barton County advanced to the NJCAA National Tournament, placing 7th. The only loss the Cougars encountered in the tournament was to eventually champion Wabash Valley (Ind.) College.

Louisiana Monroe is coming off a 19-10 season that included a 15-5 record in Southland Conference action, good for second behind McNeese State. The Indians graduated five seniors from that squad, including three of its top four scorers.
