Barton men earn big road win
The Barton County men's basketball team earned a big road win Wednesday night, knocking off Garden City, 64-60, in Jayhawk West action. The win snapped a 2-game skid for the Cougars and improved their record to 2-2 in the Jayhawk West and 13-5 overall. Garden City falls to 1-2 and 13-4.

Highlights
Barton County led nearly the entire game and never trailed in the second half. The Cougars led at one point 50-39 before a 9-0 Garden City run put the Broncbusters back in the game. Garden City tied the contest late at 60-all but the Cougars were able to knock down free throws to earn the win.

Rapheal Posey hit two free throws with 15 seconds to play to give Barton a 62-60 lead. After a Barton County steal, Jesse McClung was fouled with 8 seconds to play and nailed two more free throws to seal the win.

Robert Whaley turned in a good effort for the Cougars, leading Barton with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 blocked shots. Posey came off the bench to score 14 and Jason Carter added 12. Gary Solomon led Garden City with 21.

The 64-point total was the second lowest in Coach Ryan Wolf's three years at the helm of Barton County. The Cougars have scored less than 70 points only five times during Coach Wolf's 90 games as head coach. In those games Barton County is 5-0. The lowest total was a 63-58 win at Hutchinson last season.

Next Up
With three road contest in the first four conference games, Barton County will return home Saturday to take on Butler County. The Grizzlies are fresh off a 77-76 win over Hutchinson Wednesday. Butler County is 1-2 West action and 12-5 overall. Tip will be at 8 p.m.
