For the second straight semester the Barton Community College eSports Rainbow 6 Siege squad will battle for a NJCAAE National Championship after defeating fifth seed Marshaltown Community College Tuesday evening 2-0.

Improving to 8-0 on the season and winners in 38 of their last 39 matches including 18 straight, the five-pack will look to claim the program's third National Championship tonight at 5:30 p.m. against second seeded Northeast Alabama Community College.

Having first choice and selecting map at Chalet, Barton was flawless earning a 7-0 victory and seizing a 1-0 match advantage. Starting on the defensive side in Marshalltown's map selection of Bank, the Cougars leaped out front again in the second phase at 5-2 before dropping the next four rounds and trailing for the first time 6-5. Locked in a dogfight, Head Coach Curtis Rose executed his lone timeout at the right time providing the perfect message with his Barton gamers attacking out of the break claiming the tying point to force overtime. In the extra period, the Cougars were lights out claiming the next two points to claim the victory 8-6, fighting off any potential third and decisive map.

When asked about utilizing the timeout in that situation Coach Rose stated, "Sometimes you just need to take a break to refocus and regroup."

Other playoff results saw the Overwatch 2 group advancing out of the first round with a 3-0 victory over Pensacola State College before coming back and knocking off the second seed Northwest Florida State College 3-0 to secure a spot in Friday evening's Quarterfinals against seventh seeded Missouri State University – West Plains, with the winner later playing in the Semifinal's.
