Barton eSports opens fall season with solid results
Fresh off its' best season in program history, the Barton Community College eSports squad has hit the ground running to open the 2022-2023 season. The Cougars opened the season with a 4-4 week before bouncing back with a solid 6-2 mark.
Sitting at 10-6 after the opening two weeks, the Barton gamers will look to carry the momentum into week three action that opened up Monday with another 8-slate of games throughout the week.
Week 1
Tuesday's action highlighted the start of the runback tour for the five pack of Rainbow 6 Siege gamers. Picking up where they left off a season ago, the Siege pack routed Northeast Community College in straight maps earning a 2-0 result to notch the program's first victory of the 22-23 season. Caden Nokleby made it a perfect night for the Cougars starting his Madden 22 season with a 2-1 victory over Navarro College.
Barton's next victories of the week came on Thursday evening as the squad posted a 2-1 evening. Starting the night off on the positive side was the Call of Duty Gunfight 2v2 squad of Adam Hardin and Kindric Castro blasting right past Heartland Community College securing a 3-0 outcome.
Competing in Mario Kart for the first time in the program's three-year existence, Harley Headley scored the first victory with a 4-0 sweep over Rockland Community College while Hardin dropped a tight 4-3 battle to Jefferson State Community College.
Other results saw the Rocket League dropping a 3-1 tilt to St. Clair College while both Super Smash participants Frank Wilkens and Headley fell in their matches to Borough of Manhattan Community College and Trinity Valley Community College 3-2 and 3-0 respectfully.
Week 2
Settling in after having a week's experience, the Cougars got off to a solid start as the Rocket League team got back on track rattling off a 3-1 result to Shelton State Community College.
Remaining perfect on Tuesday's the Rainbow 6 Sieges team secured its' second straight 2-0 sweep over rival Hutchinson Community College while Nokleby dispatched his Shelton State opponent 2-0 in Madden 22.
Dropping both Super Smash Bros a week prior, Headley helped produced a 1-1 Wednesday night earning a clean sheet 3-0 win over St. Clair Community College while Wilkens dropped a 3-1 tilt to WVU Potomac State College.
Concluding the week with a 2-1 Thursday, the tandem of Hardin and Castro made it 2-0 on the year in Gunfight 2v2 with a 3-0 triumph over Alexandria Technical & Community College. Recovering from a week 1 defeat was Headley in Mario Kart sweeping Rockland Community College 4-0 while Hardin fell on the short end dropping his second straight 4-3 result to Jefferson State Community College.
