Barton eSports Rainbow 6 Siege NJCAAE National Champions

The Barton Community College eSports program reached the tops of all tops Saturday evening as the Cougars Rainbow 6 Siege squad secured the programs first ever NJCAAE National Championship with a 2-0 sweep over Rockland Community College. Sophomore Davon Morris delivered the second title on the night and programs first individual NJCAAE National Championship hours later claiming the Madden title in a thrilling 3-2 (21-20, 24-30 OT, 14-10, 29-30 and 19-13) victory over Carl Albert State College.

The Cougars will look for their third National Championship tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. as undefeated Call of Duty Cold War Gunfight gamers Adam Hardin and Kindric Castro battle against Navarro College.

Competing in their first ever NJCAAE Championship Ashton Ensley, Will Spires, Eli Friedli, Jared McFadden, and Joel DuBose proved the stage was not too big directing Barton to an early 2-0 lead in the opening map. Dropping the third match to Rockland, the Cougars settled in rattling off five-straight rounds taking the opening map 7-1.

Needing one more map victory to secure the program's first crown, the five pack faced their lone deficit of the night dropping the opening round in map two to Rockland. Regrouping briefly Barton's strategy paid off storming back with the next five rounds sensing the title in reach.

Falling in round seven, the Cougars responded back in the eighth imposing match point, but the flow would reverse as tension started to grow on Barton as the Hawks rebounded with three straight clawing back to within 6-5. Staying focused remained critical to the Cougars as the five pack claimed the 12th round securing the second map 7-5 and clinching the NJCAAE National Championship with a final season mark of 10-1 including 10 straight victories ensuing its' 2-1 opening week loss to St. Clair County Community College.
