Cougar gamers continue hot streak as playoff push heats up #GoBarton

As the push for the postseason intensifies, the Barton Community College eSports squad sustained their momentum in week six and seven action as the Cougars turned in records of 7-3 and 9-1.

Winners in eight straight and 32 of their last 39 contests, Barton improves its regular season mark to 50-20 overall. Entering the final two weeks of the regular season, the Cougar gamers will kick off week eight action on Monday as another 10-slate of contests await. 

Week 6
Fresh off a bye week the Rocket League squad kicked off the winning ways for Barton with a clean 3-0 route over Western Technical College moving their season mark to 3-2 on the season. Capping Monday's action, the COD: Cold War 4v4 squad saw its' two-match winning streak come to a halt falling 3-0 to Harrisburg Area Community College.

In Tuesday's action, the Cougars Rainbow 6 Siege squad improved their unbeaten streak to five straight and season mark to 5-1 with a 2-0 blowout victory over Central Wyoming.

Pursuing the top spot in the Madden postseason tournament, sophomore Davon Morris prolonged his perfect record to 6-0 with a 2-0 victory over Navarro College. Teammate Chance Costello had to wait a day before returning to action following his week five bye blanking Catawba Valley Community College 2-0 advancing his overall record to 4-1.

In Super Smash Brothers, Nicholas Kohman and Trent Keffer had rough tilts falling 3-0 in their matches for the week. Kohman suffered his second loss of the year to Fort Scott Community College while Keffer saw his two-match winning streak halted by Carl Albert State College.

Barton regrouped with perfection in Thursday's COD: Cold War Gunfight 2v2 matches. The Cougar gold team led by Adam Hardin and Kindric Castro cemented the top ranking while clinching a playoff spot with a 3-0 victory over top ranked Coastal Bend Community. The Barton blue team of Keffer and Bryce Hopkins moved to 3-2 on the season with a clean 3-0 sweep over Gogebic Community College.

Rounding out the victories for the Cougars was the Overwatch squad posting a 3-0 route over Umpqua Community College.

Week 7
Seeing its two-match winning streak end last week, the COD: Cold War 4v4 group countered back with a strong 3-0 victory over Bryant and Stratton (WI) moving their season mark to a game above .500 at 4-3.

Barton's lone defeat of the week came in Monday's final matchup as the Rocket League squad saw its' two-match winning streak snapped falling to Lackawanna 3-2.

Madden gamers Morris and Costello capped a perfect Tuesday for the Cougars each dispatching their opponents 2-0. Morris earned his victory over Pennsylvania Highland Community College moving his flawless sheet to 7-0 on the campaign as the sophomore creeps closer to securing the top seed in the upcoming playoffs. Costello made it three straight victories taking down Iowa Central Community College improving his overall record to 5-2.

Super Smash Brothers duo Keffer and Kohman bounced back from a difficult previous week earning a pair of 3-0 triumphs over Broome Community College and Carl Albert State College.

Competing for the first time as the top ranked COD: Cold War Gunfight 2v2 Hardin and Castro rosed to the occasion dominating Ocean County 6-2, 6-0 and 6-2 keeping their season record untouched at 6-0. Teammates Keffer and Hopkins kept their playoff chances alive improving to 4-2 on the campaign as the 5th ranked duo notched a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 and 6-2 victory over Union County College.

Returning to the hardwood for the first time in 13 days following his week six bye, Joshua Neal got back to 3-3 on the season pulling off the reverse sweep in NBA2K beating his opponent from South Carolina Sumter 2-1.

Wrapping up the week the Cougars Overwatch squad completed their sweep over Pennsylvania Highlands 3-0 stretching their winning streak to two straight and record to 5-2 as the group has won five of the last six battles.
