Cougar gamers nearly perfect as midway point of season arrives; Hardin, Morris and Robl selected onto first ever NJCAAE All-Academic Team #GoBarton

The Barton Community College eSports team continued its' recent success as the fall season hit the midway point in week five action. The Cougars' flirted once more with a perfect week concluding the weeks' eight slate of games with a 6-2 record.

Winners in 16 of their last 19 matches, the Cougars sit at 34-16 as a squad with the push for the postseason heating up heading into week six action as a 10-pack of games await on the docket.

Barton's first victory of the week came in Monday's lone action as the Cougars Call of Duty Cold War four-pack cruised to its' second straight shutout in a 3-0 victory over Crowder College improving their season record to 3-2 on the season.

Two of Barton's hottest teams filled the action-packed evening on Tuesday. In Madden 21, Davon Morris remained unbeaten improving to 5-0 on the season with a 2-0 win over a strong Grays Harbor squad tightening his hold on the #1 seed. Capping the perfect night, the Rainbow 6 Siege pack grasped full control of second place with a 2-0 victory over a strong Grays Harbor squad extending their winning streak to four-straight and round record to 56-4 since their week one loss.

Reaching the official halfway point of the season on Wednesday, sophomore Trent Keffer pieced together his second straight victory breezing by Arizona Western College 3-0.

Suffering the lone loss, a week ago, Barton's Call of Duty Cold War Gunfight pair of Keffer and Bryce Hopkins answered back with a 3-1 victory over Ocean County College. Teammates Kindric Castro and Adam Hardin remained perfect on the season while capping the fourth straight perfect night for the Cougars with a 3-0 triumph over Heartland Community College.

Unfortunately, in Friday's action Barton's hopes for a perfect week would be thrown out as the 3rd ranked Barton Overwatch team fell 3-0 to top ranked Wake Tech Community College and NBA 2K player Joshua-Ryan Lujan falling dropping a tight 2-1 battle to Catawba Valley.

Receiving the week off due to byes was the Cougar Rocket League squad, Super Smash Brothers Nicholas Kohman and Madden 21 player Chance Costello.

The NJCAAE released their first ever All-Academic team Friday morning as Adam Hardin (Call of Duty), Davon Morris (Madden) and Landon Robl (Super Smash Brothers) landed onto the 2021 All-Academic  team. The trio led Barton to a tie for the most of any school as Catawba Valley Community College was the other lone school landed three on the list of the 16 students awarded.
