Barton esports kicks-off inaugural season #GoBarton

The Barton Community College esports team made a national impression this past week as the squad kicked-off their inaugural season.

The Cougars took on competition in five variety of games coming away with a 7-5 record.

Barton's top ranked Madden player Davon Morris easily dispatched his Garden City Community College opponent by a 45-7 with the Broncbuster forfeiting their second game. Anthony Twiggs, who ranks 4th in the country, received a bye with 24th ranked Corey Hale picking up a draw against Monroe Community College. 20th ranked Brayden Clare split his dual with Hinds College, winning 24-12 before falling 28-7.

In Rainbow 6 Siege, the 8th ranked Cougars took on Snow College in winning the first game 8-7 before splitting the dual 7-4.

Fortnite and Rocket League were tougher for the Cougars, dropping a 4-0 decision to 12th ranked John Wood Community College and a 3-0 defeat in Fortnite.

Landon led the two Cougars in Super Smash Bros, defeating Calhoun Community College 4-0 as Bryce lost by the same score to Northeastern Technical College.

Barton is back in action this week of their busy fall schedule, with an additional five games capped by the Cougars' invite to the first ever Fall Guys Collegiate Knockout. Qualifier action takes place this Saturday, October 17, with the championship round scheduled for October 24. The Cougars will be the lone NJCAA team in the event, competing against the University of Tennessee, Columbia College, Depaul University, the University of Mississippi, California State University, the University of Utah, and the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.
