For the second time this season, Barton Community College ace Reece Hemmerling has been tabbed as the week 8 KJCCC West Pitcher of the Week.

The sophomore right-hander was sensational once again firing his second complete game shutout of the season in Barton's 8-0 series opening win over Pratt. Improving to 3-1 on the year, the sophomore collected his second straight victory permitting eight hits with six strikeouts.

Facing a bases loaded no-out jam following three straight singles to begin the sixth, Hammerling locked in recording back-to-back punchouts and induced a fly-out to escape trouble to preserve the shutout.

In his most recent outing Hemmerling collected his fifth victory of the season moving to 5-1 with his second straight complete game yielding seven hits, four runs with five strikeouts over his five innings worked. 

The award is Barton's fifth of the season while Hemmerling is the first Cougar to garner multiple weekly conference honors after receiving the Week 5 award.

Splitting the weekend series with Seward County, Barton's next series is a four-game set with Dodge City Community College as the Cougars play host to the Conquistadors Thursday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. before concluding the series Saturday in Dodge City.
