Barton baseball plays late inning spoilers in series sweep at Colby #GoBarton

Executing in the late innings, the Barton Community College baseball team used a six run seventh inning rally in Game 1, later capped behind Jaron Cotton's eighth inning go-ahead and second home run in Game 2 to play spoiler Saturday afternoon in earning a four-game sweep over Colby Community College at Young Memorial Park.

The Cougars completed their second four-game series sweep of the season with victories of 13-11 and 8-7 on Saturday. Barton defeated Colby 8-0 and 9-3 in the first two games of the series on Thursday.

Barton improves to 6-2 in conference play and 18-6 overall while the Trojans remain searching for their first league win dropping to 0-8 and 2-20 overall. Next up for the Cougars is a Tuesday non-conference road trip to nationally receiving votes Cowley College for a single nine-inning game at 2:00 p.m. from Arkansas City, KS before returning home for Thursday's opening two games against conference foe Pratt Community College.

In the four games, Barton outscored the Trojans 38-21 and out-hit Colby 44-30 in the four-game series.

Wyatt Yetter's second double driving in three of his five runs in the opener highlighted the Cougars six run seventh inning comeback, as the freshman concluded the day 2-for-6 at the plate.

Out homered 6-0 in the opener, Cotton's pair of big fly's provided the lone fence clearers in the nightcap for his third and fourth of the season in fortifying Barton's doubleheader sweep The sophomore's 4-for-9 twin bill performance with four RBIs led five Cougars pounding two or more hits on the afternoon.

Extending his hitting streak to 21-straight games following a 2-for-4 and 1-for-5 performance, Robby Bolin legged out two of Barton's four doubles on the day while driving in a pair and drawing a walk.

Starting pitchers Bradley Feezer and Ethan Minaker earned no-decisions on the mound with Preston Golden (2-0) securing the game one victory and Anthony Treto (2-1) notching the win in the series finale.

Relievers Nathan Bowman and Jackson MacWilliams secured their first collegiate saves. Bowman locking down his first in the opener going 0.2-innings while MacWilliams scored his tossing the final two-innings after Cotton's go-ahead eighth inning home run.
