Balanced attack leads Barton Baseball to road win at KWU JV #GoBarton

Owen Clyne's 4-for-4 day at the plate with two-round trippers guided the Barton Community College baseball team to a 13-2 road victory over the junior varsity squad of Kansas Wesleyan University Tuesday afternoon at Salina's Dean Evans Stadium.

Receiving balanced production up and down the lineup, nine different Cougars found the hit column while producing a seaosn best nine extra base hits and tying a second season best 15 hits.

Winners of two-straight and now 14-6 on the season, Barton will return to conference play Thursday in hosting the first leg of the weekend four-game set against Colby Community College with weather forcing the teams to flip locations. First pitch for Thursday's doubleheader is slated for 1:00 p.m. from Jimmy Lawson-Danny Biggs Field before concluding the series with a Saturday twin bill at Colby.

Clyne had his first career two-home run game and a season high seven RBIs to pace the Barton offense. The sophomore hit his first home run as a Cougar in the seventh before concluding his perfect 4-of-4 day at the plate with a second two-run shot in the ninth.

Extending his hitting streak to 17-straight games, Robby Bolin's first of two doubles on the afternoon brought in the first of a four-run top of the third gifting Barton its' lone lead needed as the sophomore finishing 2-of-5 at the dish.

Finishing with a season-high three hits in four at-bats, Cesar Gomez rounded out the multi-hit performances by the Cougar lineup legging out a double and scoring three runs.

Grant Nottlemann's pinch hit triple in the eighth and doubles by Wyatt Yetter and Kaden Stones rounded out Barton's season high nine extra base hits.

Parker Volski (1-0) notched the victory making his collegiate and Cougar debut going the opening four innings yielding two hits, one run, two walks and striking out four Coyotes.

Utilizing the bullpen over the final five innings, Barton used five different pitchers with each working one inning.
