The Barton Community College baseball team closed its' conference opening weekend series Sunday afternoon earning split results at Butler Community College

Scoring a run in the first five innings and holding a 5-1 lead would not be enough for the Cougars as Butler responded with 14 unanswered handing Barton a 15-5 sixth inning run rule defeat. Bouncing back in the nightcap, the Cougars would set out to a 7-0 lead and never look back in returning the favor with a 15-5 seventh inning run rule victory.

Splitting the four game weekend series, Barton sits at 2-2 in league play and 13-6 overall while the Grizzlies sit at 2-2 in conference and 10-8 overall.

The Cougars will continue the five-game road trip Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference nine inning affair against the junior varsity squad of Kansas Wesleyan University with first pitch slated for 12:00 p.m. from Salina's Dean Evans Stadium.

Recording multi hit performances in the twin bill and going 5-for-8 on the afternoon, Robby Bolin extended his hitting streak to 16-straight games while driving in three highlighted behind his second fence clearer of the season and double in the nightcap.

Jaron Cotton recorded four of his six hits on the afternoon in the backend of the doubleheader as the sophomore went 4-of-5 in game two with his second home run and first triple of the season with three runs driven in and six runs scored.

Also hitting 4-of-5 in game two with four RBIs and launching his first collegiate home run, Wyatt Yetter concluded his twin bill 5-of-8 at the plate.

Working into the fifth inning, starting hurler Bradley Feezer (2-2) fell on the wrong side of the decision scattering five hits, six runs (two earned) and sending back six Butler hitters.

Ethan Minaker (2-0) notched the game two victory tossing five innings yielding four hits, one run with two walks and six punchouts.
