Cole Schieffer of the Barton Community College baseball team has been named the week three KJCCC West Player off the week announced earlier this week.

Schieffer batted .500 (3-for-6) with his first collegiate home run, a triple, six RBIs, and walk while reaching base at a .571 clip and slugging 1.333.

Helping Barton to a doubleheader sweep over Western Nebraska in Sunday's home opener, the sophomore began the twin bill going 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs. Playing an even bigger role in the nightcap, Schieffer belted a three-run missile to left for his first collegiate home run capping a 5-0 first inning lead before tacking on one more drove in with a bases loaded walk.

Schieffer helped the receiving vote Cougars complete the series sweep over Western Nebraska on Monday in moving to 6-1 on the season. Barton will play a three-game series at Kansas City Kansas Community College starting Friday before returning home Tuesday to kickoff a seven game homestand.
